Overview of Position

The Plant Supervisor position is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position accomplishes results by communicating job expectations, training, planning/monitoring, coaching, counseling and disciplining employees as required.  The Plant Supervisor also initiates, coordinates and enforces systems, policies and procedures. As well, this position utilizes Lean principles to drive continuous improvement in Production, Safety, Quality and on time delivery.


Description of Duties and Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for running and supervising multiple work cells and up to 40 employees
  • Motivate, lead, and direct continuous improvement efforts
  • New employee training and monitoring
  • This position will ensure high quality standards with regards to producing & shipping product at the lowest achievable cost
  • Ensure the efficient operation of all phases of production, warehousing, quality and Maintenance
  • Resolves production issues (Rework/bottlenecks) by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, recommending and implementing corrective action
  • Work closely with employees to ensure they have adequate materials, tools, equipment and training to perform their job efficiently and consistently
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policy at all times
  • Ensure compliance with company 5’s policies at all times
  • Ensure compliance with company environmental regulations at all times
  • Complete daily production reports
  • Enter production into Microsoft Access or Excel
  • Safety sensitive position


Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Welding and fabrication experience a big plus
  • Six Sigma or proficient in Lean / 5’s
  • Leadership Training
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and computer skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PPT, Access
  • Experience with 5 whys / root cause analysis
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
