Technical Service Representative


Overview of Position
The Technical Service Representative is primarily responsible for assisting customers and subcontractors with technical problems with hydraulic, electrical or mechanical machinery, questions, or applications regarding function, install, maintenance and replacement as well as warranty and parts questions or issues for loading dock safety equipment.

The Technical Service Representative may also inspect and service company equipment assuring product performance, addressing and resolving questions and problems regarding products.
 Travel approximately 10%.
 
Description of Duties and Job Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots products and equipment, recommending quick, well thought-out and best practice solutions and repair.
  • Track, diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve issues with Systems’ specialized control boxes and products, including sensors, controllers and inter connective equipment.
  • Technical support to customers over the telephone, addressing and resolving questions and problems with controller set up and install, sensor install and functions and interconnection between equipment.
  • Search and resolve production, installation and technical support issues related to Systems’ specialized control boxes and equipment, including sensors, controllers, and interconnections.
  • Offer assistance and support of the install of Systems’ specialized control boxes.  
  • Reads and understands blueprints, schematics, manuals, bulletins and other specifications.
  • Provide corrective actions for products under warranty according to policy procedures.
  • Process replacement parts and warranty orders for existing products or units
  • Use strong computer software skills such as spreadsheets, databases, word processing applications, email, TCM (ERP System) IOT etc. daily with efficiency.
  • Remains technically competent and keeps current within the industry.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, business partners and customers to define, design, develop and implement future technology solutions that resolve application issues and improve product functionality.
  • Communicate with the Engineering department on any technical issues with controls or other equipment.
  • Escalate and track advanced technical issues to the appropriate team member or company departments.
  • Work with the Product Manager and other departments on customer feedback and common technical issues to design and produce product enhancements of controllers, sensors, and install applications
  • Represent the voice of customers regarding their pain points and FAQs.  Channel this feedback to appropriate departments.
  • Travels to customer sites 10% of the time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

  Qualifications

  • Technical school or associates degree or 3 years of a solid electronics, electrical, and controls aptitude and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, manuals, bulletins and other specifications. 
  • Understanding of electronics, electrical field wiring and control wiring.
  • At least 2 years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills- verbal, telephone, in-person and written.  Possesses well-polished, telephone and face-to-face communication skills with a personable and professional demeanor.
  • Strong computer software skills such as spreadsheets, databases, word processing applications, email, ERP systems, IOT etc. with efficiency.
  • Technologically advanced personality, proficient technology user, Smart Phone, tablet, PC, IOT.
  • Initiative, service-orientation, interpersonal and team skills.
  • Possess valid driver's license with good record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
